Lenny’s Invests in Employee Training to Increase Restaurant Sales
Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC rolls out LEARN 2.0, web based training program
(Memphis, TN) – Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC, franchisor of Lenny’s Sub Shop, announced today the roll out of the second edition of their proprietary web based training program, LEARN 2.0 or Lenny’s Education And Resource Network. This is yet another move by Lenny’s to further enhance their brand by strengthening the guest experience in the restaurants and as a result, increasing restaurant sales.
LEARN 2.0 is a series of modules designed to train each level of staff, from hourly employees to franchisees, on all of the tasks in the restaurant. The program begins with automatic reminder messages to each employee as they login to the time clock function of the Point of Sale in the restaurant. The network is available around the clock and can be accessed from any computer. It provides measurable, self paced training at the click of a mouse. The modules consist of how-to slideshows, videos and photos of each process in the store from how to make a sub, to safe food handling, to using the point of sale system. The goal is to train employees to perform all operational processes at a faster rate with a consistently higher level of execution. This increased level of accuracy and consistency will improve the guest experience and keep those satisfied guests coming back – Lenny’s ultimate goal.
“We recognize the value talented individuals can have in an organization,” explains John Strand, Vice President of Franchise Training and Performance, “and in the restaurant, that is no different.”
The tutorials are simple in design and content, and best of all, appropriate for all levels of education. Each tutorial is followed by a quiz, the results of which are tracked and recorded by the corporate office and available to the franchisees of each location. These results provide insight into the overall status of the restaurant. Electronic education systems like LEARN 2.0 are a great way to communicate with Generation Y employees who spend a great deal of time on electronic devices. New as well as veteran employees will be able to complete the training in LEARN 2.0, a system that Lenny’s Franchisor, LLC CEO George Alvord describes as an investment, not an expense. By completing the tutorials in LEARN 2.0 the employees gain more confidence in their work, positively impacting their performance. Benefits of a well trained staff include better retention, better guest service and better store performance.
